Colt Anthony Martin
Colt Anthony Martin 3/29/1996 - 9/9/2024
If you knew Colt, you knew he was always right, or so he said.
Colt was not for everyone. But if he was someone who was for you and got to be in your life, even if just for a short time, you knew he was special. His heart and soul were so kind and sweet, even if he put on this hardcore, protective front outwardly. He was such a sweet, caring guy on the inside, always going above and beyond to make others feel special and taken care of. He never wanted to leave anyone out or make anyone feel unwanted.
When I think of Colt, I immediately think about the meals he made. He'd spend hours and so much energy and effort cooking a dish for someone. He always said taking the extra time and care mattered, and that he didn't want to cook unless it was for someone else to experience it with him. He loved seeing you take that first bite of something he had made and hearing your immediate reaction. And he was good at it too...
When it comes to his talents, he had a vast array of skills; using his hands for hobbies and interests was just one of them. He loved working on his Jeep, and on cars in general, really. He loved cutting wood with his axe, playing guitar, and playing video games on his PC. He could literally pick up anything in a matter of hours after deciding he wanted to learn about it, and then he was able to just do it.
A side of him most people probably saw was his love and affection for animals. He'd constantly attract strays, mostly cats, but dogs and various other animals too. Just walking down the street, they would literally flock towards him. He'd play with them, pet them, and show them so much gentle love and care, including his own cat, who was a rescue, named Shit Bit. His interaction with animals was a very precious thing to witness.
He loved making jokes and making people laugh. He enjoyed teaching people things and sharing his knowledge, especially about cars. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed being off-grid. He would have just loved to disappear into the middle of the woods and be a survivalist—living off the land, the trees, and the soil.
He had several people in his life who cared about him and loved him so, so much—those who would do literally anything for him when he asked. Those precious memories will not be forgotten. They will be cherished and carried on by all of us.
The only beloved son and a big brother.
His name was Colt. He was a pistol, but a true Winchester by blood.
