Cory Joseph Hurst, 41, of Floyd Knobs, Indiana, passed away on February 24, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1983.

Cory is survived by his beloved daughter, Emma Hurst; his father, Michael Hurst; and his sister, Tabby Hurst. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Hurst; his grandmother, Carol Hurst; and his grandparents, Norman and Ruby Reed.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Sgt. Cory Hurst served honorably for six years (2003–2009) with the 172nd Infantry, Stryker Brigade, stationed in Alaska. During his service, he completed two overseas tours and was awarded the Purple Heart, along with multiple other commendations for his bravery and dedication.

Cory was a passionate learner, earning Bachelor’s degrees in Applied Geology from the University of Louisville and Computer Science from Indiana University. His love for technology and creativity shined through his work in computer programming, coding, and software engineering. Beyond his technical skills, he was a talented musician, enjoying playing his guitars and listening to music. He also loved reading, drawing, and continuously expanding his knowledge.

Cory will be remembered for his intellect, dedication, and artistic spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
