Duane King
11/27/1956 - 06/04/2025
“Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
— Matthew 25:23
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Duane Scott King, who departed this life on June 4, 2025, at the age of 68 in Louisville, Kentucky. Duane was born on November 27, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Bernard and Mildred King.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Duane enlisted in 1975 and completed basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. His commitment to service extended well beyond the military—he was a selfless husband, a devoted father, a doting grandfather, and a spiritual leader to many.
On March 17, 1984, he married the love of his life, Kristina King, and together they built a home filled with faith, music, laughter, and love. Duane especially loved playing the drums, often filling the house with rhythm as his children and grandchildren danced joyfully around him.
A man of strong values, Duane taught his family to be kind, humble, and open-hearted. He believed in giving people the benefit of the doubt and accepting others as they are. His wisdom and gentle guidance left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Duane was known for his incredible lasagna, lovingly referred to as “Dad’s lasagna,” a family favorite that continues to bring his memory to the dinner table. He found joy in gardening and cooking, always nurturing both plants and people with great care.
His faith was the cornerstone of his life. Duane served as a respected deacon and elder, played in the church band, led adult Bible studies, and actively supported Vacation Bible School. He was a quiet but powerful presence—steadfast, sincere, and beloved.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Mildred King, his brother Dave King, and sisters Denise and Dodie.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kristina King; his children, Joshua (Jennie) King, Jessica (Jack) Laughman, and Jennifer Taylor; his sister Debi (Tim) Hofstetter; his brother Doug King; and his nine cherished grandchildren: Erin Lux, Ciana Rosenthal, Nevaeh King, Devin Lux, Cora Rosenthal, Joshua Caleb King, Jaden Scott King, Lonna Laughman, Raya Laughman.
Duane was a loyal friend, a steady guide, and a man whose legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
