Kirk Alan Bergman

10/21/1952 - 1/17/2025

Kirk Alan Bergman, 72, of Louisville, KY, passed away surrounded by love and family. Kirk was a devoted husband, father, Opa, brother, and friend whose passion for life, learning, and family left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Kirk is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Anne-Marie; his children, Andrew, Vincent, Mary-Kate (Brian), and Brenna (John); and his cherished grandchildren, Callie and Isabella. He is also survived by his siblings Bruce (Barb) and Tricia, his sister-in-law Cathy, and his nieces and nephews, all of whom he held dear. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Louise, and his brother Charles (Chuck).

An Iowa native, Kirk attended Des Moines Hoover High School before graduating from Grand View University. A lifelong learner, Kirk’s curiosity and determination drove him to explore a wide range of interests, including woodworking, cross-stitching, and genealogy. He delighted in solving crossword puzzles, diving into books, and uncovering the roots of his ancestry.

Kirk had a deep appreciation for music, especially the timeless melodies of Frank Sinatra and the Beach Boys. A dedicated Iowa Hawkeyes fan, he loved watching football with his family, creating cherished memories around the game.

Kirk's dedication to hard work, no matter the task, was a source of pride for him, a value he passed on to his children. Despite battling stage 4 lung cancer for over two years, Kirk exemplified resilience and grace, never slowing down and embracing life to the fullest.

Above all, Kirk’s greatest joy was his family. Being a father and Opa meant everything to him, and he took immense pride in their achievements and love.

Visitation and a vigil will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church. A funeral Mass to celebrate Kirk’s life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, also at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church.
