Richard Dale Goen
07/15/1949 – 11/20/2024
Richard Dale Goen, age 75, of Norman, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 15, 1949, in Seymour, Indiana, Richard was the son of Abe and Irene (Edwards) Goen, who preceded him in death. He was a proud graduate of Clearspring High School. A dedicated worker, he started his career with the County and Medora Plastic Factory before joining Valeo Sylvania in 1989. He worked tirelessly on the clear coating line until his retirement in 2014.
Richard’s greatest joy in life was his family, particularly spending time with his cherished great-grandchildren. He found immense fulfillment in caring for his farm and cattle and enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and simply being surrounded by nature.
On June 13, 1981, Richard married the love of his life, Goldie Brock, who survives in Norman. Together, they built a life centered on family and community.
Richard is survived by his children: Michael (Sherry) Johnson of Medora, Karen Robertson of Indianapolis, Jonathon (Patricia) Goen of Scottsburg, and Jason (Rebekah) Goen of Columbus; his grandchildren: Morgan (Wesley) Cummings of Medora, Zachery (Kaydi) Fields of Medora, Braden (Gretta) Fields of Columbus, Jacob (Cheyenne) Abram of California, Michael (Miranda) Abram of Columbus, Isaiah Meredith of Scottsburg, Lauren (Isaac) Mullins of Austin, Kaylee (Dustin) Boudreaux of Austin, Jameson (Gracey) Meredith of Scottsburg, and Quinton Goen of Booneville; and his great-grandchildren: Madison, Araylyn, Ellena, Lolah, Amellia, Mackenzie, Layla, Rowan, JJ, Sammy, Morgan, Mckynzie, Maelie, Mazelie, Dani Jo, Levi, Amelia, and Stella.
He is also survived by his brother Stephen (Jane) Goen of Medora, sister-in-law Cathy Verba of Brownstown, and brother-in-law Bige (Tonya) Brock of Florida.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Douglas Goen; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at First Pentecostal Church of Brownstown. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a short service at 12:00 PM.
Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

I was so sad to hear this news! I have wonderful memories of family visits in my childhood. I remember on one visit, Dick taking us to check to check on cows (I think) and showing is flying squirrels in the trees! Sometimes it’s the little things we remember the most fondly. Praying for peace and comfort for family
