Robert Depp Harper

June 7, 1959 - April 24, 2026

Robert Depp Harper passed from this life just prior to the dawning of April 24, 2026, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Mr. Harper was born in Kentucky. He was raised and attended school in Indianapolis, Indiana. After high school, he returned to Barren County, Kentucky, where he planted his adult roots. He was the son of the late Bobby D. and Ethel M. Harper.

Robert was a very talented and gifted construction worker who could build a home or nearly any structure from the ground up. He spent nearly 50 years working in construction, carpentry, and handyman trades. He proudly carried on the traditions and skills passed on to him by his loving father and several of his favorite and equally talented uncles. He truly was a jack of all trades.

He spent the last 25 years of his life working at Nemak in Glasgow, Kentucky. Though working indoors was an adjustment, he quickly became a Leadman early in his career there. Years later, he accepted the title of Multi-Craft Technician and, most recently, served for several years as the Facilities Maintenance Technician for both Plant I and Plant II. In his downtime, he also worked as a part-time specialty contractor before being forced into retirement during the last months of his life. Robert was often trusted with construction projects and consulted upon at Nemak, work he absolutely loved and often spoke proudly about.

Robert had a special and deeply personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Above all else, he loved and prioritized his wife, children, and family.

Survivors include his wife of the last three decades, Roberta Harper; his children, Cassie (Brian) Trivett, Samantha (Tyler) Bishop, Thomas Harper, and a young man whom he raised and proudly called son for the first seven years of his life, Clayton Kinslow. He adored his beautiful granddaughter, Harley Trivett. He also leaves behind several aunts and uncles whom he held in the highest regard; many cousins with whom he shared fond memories, some he affectionately called brother; his work friends and family; his friend Bruno; and his very special extended second family, the Deckards, whom he held near and dear to his heart.

In addition to his parents, Bobby and Ethel Harper, he was preceded in death by his younger sister, Teresa P. Harper; his paternal grandparents, Millard D. and Annie P. Harper; and his maternal grandparents, Hardy R. and Ann Wilson.

Mr. Harper chose cremation.

A casual, non-formal Celebration of Life will be held indoors at Bowling Green Christian Church, 1912 Smallhouse Rd, Bowling Green, Kentucky, on May 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST. Food and beverages will be provided. A large kitchen is available. Prepared dishes, photographs, memories, and stories of remembrance are welcome, but not expected. A secure playground will also be available for children.

The family is requesting volunteers to assist with setting up tables and chairs at noon, as well as volunteers to help clean up and put away tables and chairs between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

With our deepest sympathy for your loss.
What started as hiring Robert for handyman work quickly
turned into a meaningful friendship. My husband and I
thought very highly of him and always appreciated his
kindness, conversation, and willingness to help. He touched
our lives more than he probably ever realized, and he will
truly be missed.
We are keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for sharing him with us.
Bruno and Liz Griffin
