Robert Thomas "Tom" Claycomb
1/10/1941-10/23/2024
Robert Thomas Claycomb (Tom), 83, transitioned to heaven on October 23, 2024 to reunite with his soulmate, Shirley Jean Toohey, his brother Frank, parents Jeff and Hazel and son in law, Jamie.
Tom was born in Louisville, Kentucky and was a hero to many. He was compassionate, witty, laid back and a wonderful father/husband/brother/friend/Papaw.
Tom is survived by his 3 daughters, Teresa Roberts (Kevin), Lisa Bergsma (Jeff), Carissa Segrest; 7 grandchildren: Josh Thomas (Michaela), Autumn Segrest (Jake), Cole Segrest, Alainna Segrest, Alyssa Segrest, Tanner Roberts and Kinsey Roberts; nieces Jessica and Dawn; nephews Greg and Christian.
Tom had many life accomplishments and led a life full of love and great memories. He and Shirley were married almost 55 years and were a great example of true love. He had been retired for 25 years and enjoyed vacationing in Gulf Shores, fishing, golfing, UofL sports, yard sales and spending time with family.
Tom worked as a Sheet Metal worker (Local 110) for 38 years at Stewart Mechanical and Harpring Sheet Metal where they called him “Loud Bob” because he was quiet. He was very proud of his work and instilled a strong work ethic to his family. When he retired, he taught himself how to work on cell phones and laptops to keep his mind sharp and continued to exercise to stay fit. Tom loved his family dearly and was loved by all.
No formal funeral ceremony will be held; a special thanks to the Hosparus team who were truly amazing. In lieu of flowers donations to Hosparus would be appreciated.

Just learned of Bob’s passing. I worked at Stewart Mechanical with Bob and roomed with him as we worked in Tennessee at the GM Saturn Plant. I always had a great respect for him and thoroughly enjoyed working with him. RIP God bless. He was one of the good ones. Great craftsman.
