Terry Jay Elam, also known by his alias "Sir Horus Grimwulff," of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on October 22, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on December 6, 1965, Terry was known for his warmth, sense of humor, and dedication to his community and family.

Terry’s biggest passion was Amtgard, a live-action role-playing game focused on medieval battle reenactments. A member for approximately 30 years, he earned his knight’s belt in 1998 and mentored numerous squires, many of whom later became knights themselves. Always involved in event organization, Terry's squires even put bells on him so they could easily find him during busy gatherings.

Growing up in Houston, Texas, he enjoyed fishing, swimming, and various water sports, with sailing as his favorite pastime. Terry was also a passionate historian with extensive knowledge of ancient cultures, often sharing mini-lectures on historical topics with anyone lucky enough to listen.

A dedicated gamer, Terry enjoyed PC and tabletop games, especially Dungeons & Dragons. He was even in the process of creating his own world for a tabletop game and could frequently be found writing down ideas in his many notebooks. His love for music was boundless; he listened to all genres, from country and classic rock to jazz and even Mongolian throat singing, with music playing almost constantly around him.

In high school, Terry was an active athlete, playing football and swimming on his school’s teams. After high school, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany at the time the Berlin Wall came down, a historic moment he witnessed firsthand.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to come together to honor Terry's remarkable legacy.

I met Terry a few years ago in Louisville KY. I enjoyed his company & his stories and boy did he have stories! I just recently found out that he had passed & it broke my heart. I knew he moved away from Louisville to be close to his family that he missed dearly while in Louisville. May he rest in Paradise. My deepest condolences to his family, I am sorry for your loss.
