David Dale Thompson

July, 13, 1948 - August, 30, 2021

David Dale "Dave" Thompson, 73, of Louisville, Kentucky sailed away on Monday August 30, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, Preston Bailey Thompson; and two brothers, Larry Thompson and Gerald Thompson. Dave is survived by his mother, Betty Jean Thompson; and three sisters, Janet Neumann, Carolyn Mueninghoff, and Peggy Moore. He had four children, David Thompson (Kellee), Monica Littrell (Scott), Paul Montgomery (Michele), and Krista Calhoun (Guy). Dave had 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. 

Dave was definitely an adventurous soul, from rappelling, scuba diving, camping, canoeing, driving British cars, and sailing to stargazing. He was an avid artist, thrill seeker and a “Davy Crockett” type of man. He always had unique one-liners, words of wisdom and was a great story teller.

Dave was a compassionate man with a heart of gold, who served his country as a Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on September 25, 2021 at Cherokee Park-Baringer Hill shelter, 745 Cochran Hill Rd, Louisville, KY 40206. 1pm to 4pm. (Prayer service at 3pm)
