TESTIMONIALS
Stories You Can Trust, From Families Like Yours.
Choosing cremation is a big decision. Hearing from families we’ve served can bring comfort and confidence. Here’s what they had to say.
Can you prepay for cremation in Indiana or Kentucky?
Yes. Prepaid cremation, also called pre-need cremation, is legal and common in both states. You arrange and pay for services in advance, and your funds are held in a state-regulated trust or insurance policy until needed. Magnolia handles prepaid cremations across Indiana and Kentucky, with plans starting at $995.
How much does a prepaid cremation cost?
Magnolia's prepaid cremation starts at $995, locked in at today's price for life. The plan includes 24/7 transportation within 50 miles, professional guidance from licensed funeral directors, the alternative cremation container, death certificate filing, and on-site cremation at our private crematory. No hidden fees and no surprises.
Is prepaid cremation worth it?
For most families, yes. Prepaying locks in today's price, protects your family from rising costs, and removes the burden of making decisions during grief. It's worth less if you may move frequently or want maximum flexibility on service choices later. Both Indiana and Kentucky law allow you to transfer your plan if needed.
What's the difference between a prepaid cremation plan and a cremation payment plan?
A prepaid plan means you pay in full now, lock in today's price, and your family pays nothing later. A payment plan means you finance the cost over time, usually after a death has occurred. Prepaid protects against price increases. Payment plans help manage cost when planning ahead wasn't possible.
How is my prepaid cremation money protected?
Your funds never go to Magnolia directly. Indiana residents' funds are held in the MasterChoice Trust, a state-regulated account at Fifth Third Bank. Kentucky residents' funds are protected by a National Guardian Life insurance policy, rated A by AM Best. Both are Medicaid-exempt and released only when services are provided.
Does prepaying for cremation affect Medicaid eligibility?
No. Both Indiana's MasterChoice Trust and Kentucky's National Guardian Life policy are Medicaid-exempt by design. Your prepaid cremation funds are not counted as assets when Medicaid evaluates eligibility for long-term care. This protection is one of the most common reasons families pre-plan, especially when nursing home care may be ahead.
What happens to my plan if I move out of state?
Your prepaid plan is fully transferable. The Kentucky policy through National Guardian Life is portable nationwide. The Indiana MasterChoice Trust can be transferred to a funeral provider in your new state. If you later return to Magnolia's service area, we'll honor your original plan with no penalty.
How do I get started?
Three ways. Plan online at your own pace through our website. Call a Family Care Advisor at 502-653-5834 (Kentucky) or 812-913-0044 (Indiana) for a guided walkthrough. Or schedule an in-person visit at our Louisville or Jeffersonville office. Whichever you choose, the plan is documented, secure, and locked in at today's price.
