William Clayton Snelling
March, 27, 1931 - May, 02, 2022
William “Bill” Clayton Snelling, 91, of Jeffersonville, IN peacefully passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022. He had visited with close family in the days leading to his passing, and he was reassured by the thought of reuniting with his beloved Janie, siblings, and mother in the next world. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Jane, who passed in Dec.; father Bryan Snelling; mother Dorcas Stewart; brothers Lindbergh and Robert Snelling; and sisters Odelia “Baby Del” Koller, Bernice Biliteri, and Shelby Corley Prosser. Affectionately known as “Papa” by his three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, he is survived by his daughter Allison Bell; son Bryan Snelling; and grandsons, Shane Snelling, Aaron Snelling, and Charles Bell. A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, retiree of the Louisville Ford truck plant, and never shy with advice, Bill taught his children and grandchildren the value of a hard-earned dollar. In retirement, he was often found tending to his recurring garage sale, repairing bicycles or furniture, or relaxing by his wood burning stove often with cats nearby. He is forever loved and missed by many. Cremation was chosen and Magnolia Cremations of New Albany, IN has been entrusted with the arrangements.
