Valerie is the youngest of us. There are four – Bob Jr, Keith, Cheryl and Valerie. She had all the good qualities that we were lacking. We would often joke that she was the favorite. The truth is, Valerie was the most lovable, sweetest, trustworthy one and it was easy for them to shower love and affection on her. Valerie was the sweetest and most loving mother, friend, and sister that anyone could ask for. She always had a warm smile and kind words for everyone. I never heard her say anything bad about anyone. Valerie always worked two or three jobs and it was almost impossible to see her on holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter – she opted to work on those days and earn extra pay. We missed her and we would call her and pass the phone around so that everyone could talk to her. On the days we were able to get together, we laughed a lot, and hugged a lot. It was so good seeing Valerie and Cheryl together – they seemed to enjoy each other’s company and always had a fun time kidding each other. For several years, Valerie and Cheryl would attend the free concerts at the Ky State Fair. I would go and look for them, and they would always be in the front row section – I think they must have camped out to always get those seats. They would be standing, clapping, and waving their arms to the music. When I walked up, I was always greeted by a warm smile and a hug. Valerie was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved being with them. When we were all together, I could see a sparkle in Valerie’s eyes when she spoke to her children. When we had conversations about her children, I could also see a bright sparkle – she loved them so much. We were all with her when she passed away – thank you Valerie for 67+ years of laughter, love, friendship and fun. Tell everyone in Heaven I said hello.
