Barbara Elizabeth Maroldi

6/11/1937 - 9/11/2024

Barbara Elizabeth Maroldi, 87, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on September 11, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Jason) Caraglior of Louisville, KY, Janyce (Fred) Velotti of Knoxville, TN; grandsons, Michael and Christopher Velotti of Knoxville, TN; brother, Paul (Linda) Pitman of Stamford, CT; nieces, Rhonda Kellogg of Bethel, CT, Kristen Kellogg of Kailua, HI, Tanya Stewart of Kailua, HI, Meaghan Soderholm of Kailua, HI, and Maile Kellogg of Las Vegas, NV; and nephews, Jay Kellogg of Kailua, HI, and Aaron Kellogg of Ft. Meyers, FL.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Douglas Maroldi, and parents, Arnold and Marion Pitman.

Barbara was raised in Stamford, Connecticut, and was a chemist in a polymers lab at American Cyanamid before dedicating herself to raising her family. She lived in Ridgefield, Connecticut, for 27 years, where she was known for her creativity and love of sewing. She enjoyed crafting Easter dresses for her daughters and later used her talents to create placemats for the church bazaar at Etowah United Methodist Church in North Carolina, where she was a devoted member for many years.

She was admired for her gentle spirit and generosity, traits she shared with her family and all who knew her. Barbara's love for camping brought many cherished memories for her family, particularly at Lake George and Cape Cod.

She was a devoted role model for her nieces and nephews, offering them the same warmth and kindness she extended to her daughters. After raising her family in Connecticut, Barbara and her husband moved to Horse Shoe, North Carolina, where they lived for 27 years before she relocated to Louisville in 2022 to be closer to her daughter, Lynn, and son-in-law, Jason.

Barbara’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service at Etowah United Methodist Church, in Etowah, North Carolina, on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Richard Buff. A reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Barbara's honor. Her gentle heart and loving legacy will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was one of the sweetest women I had ever known. I pray there is comfort in knowing she is now with her husband.

Very saddens to hear this heartbreaking news.
I will always be grateful for working with her and knowing her. Barbara was so kind and dear. She will deeply be missed.
My heart goes out to you and the family.
Much love and my deepest sympathies.

There are too many family memories over my lifetime to share just one. Aunt Barbara was such a kind and grounded mother, and that trickled down to being such a huge part of my life. I will forever cherish the many family trips and vacations the Maroldis have spent with us. Unca Duddy (Uncle Doug) and Aunt Barbara are together once again and she is finally at peace.
I love you xo
