Beverly "McClendon" Stewart

06/26/1948 - 06/14/2024

Beverly Aquilina H. (McClendon) Stewart, aged 75, passed from this earth on June 14th, 2024 after a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by her mother Lora Lucille (Prather) McClendon, her father Hugh McClendon, her twin brother Byron McClendon, several aunts and uncles, and best friend Margaret Childers. Beverly is survived by her children Stephani (Kim), and Seth (Diana), granddaughter Isabella, dear lifelong friend Sarla Matsumura, friend Diana Hyden, as well as many other friends and relatives.

Beverly embodied the teachings of Christ through a life of service. She put herself through nursing school at the age of 40, teaching her children the value of hard work and self-love in the process. Her nursing career ranged from orthopedics to ICU to geriatrics to home health. Beverly’s love for others was immense. It colored everything she did as both a nurse and a person. She provided unconditional love and support to friends even as a girl. Her hard work and mentorship allowed others to become better nurses, CNAs, and human beings. Her care for elders gave relatives an opportunity to breathe and reengage with life. She was always just a phone call away. She was the rock her children leaned on.

Beverly taught her children that the quality of one's life is more important than the quantity. Her legacy lives on through each of them in their respective healthcare careers. When Beverly was well, she could command the world, but in a protective way; a way that builds a foundation you want to imitate. When she was ill, she still advocated for herself, and was adamant she receive the care she would have given. She made everyone around her better. She died as she wished, at home, without pain, surrounded by the family that cared for her.

Beverly chose to be cremated. There will be a private family dinner to celebrate her life at a future date.

Bev always had me laughing 😆 and she loved my momma so much and my little boy walker. I’ll never forget all the times we went shopping and eating Chinese or when she would sneak me snacks when she worked with mom. We loved her dearly
