Freda Lee Honaker

Freda Lee Honaker of West Virginia passed away on April 12, 2024. She was 89 years old, just a month shy of her 90th birthday. She was in her home, and with her children which was her last wish. 

Her surviving children are, Mary Ann Ballew, Violet L. Yount, Roger D. Honaker, and David P. Honaker. She has one surviving sister, Bonnie Siders, who spent endless hours talking on the phone to her in the middle of the night. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bert Odale Honaker, also of West Virginia; her daughters, Donna Sue Jordan and Brenda Lee Smalley; and her niece that she considered a daughter, Silvia Jeckle.

Mrs. Honaker had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Throughout her life she took in several foster children. Even her nieces children called her grandma.

Freda spent most of her time watching the church channels. She was also known to place a bet in the super bowl every year with her son-in-laws, it was more fun that way!

She left Point Pleasant, West Virginia, with her family to move to Louisville, Kentucky in the 60's where they lived for many years. After the passing of Mr. Honaker she moved to Sonora, Kentucky to live on her daughter's farm with her two sons. 

Her final journey took her to New Albany, Indiana to live out her last years, also with her sons. 

Freda was a mother to many and a friend to all. Always known to give money to strangers in need, especially if it was for a child.
