Gary Grace

Gary Grace, 85, of Lynch, Kentucky passed away on January 29, 2024. He is survived by Aaron (Ashley) Grace, Joshua (Jessica) Grace, Cory (Shauna) Grace, Christopher (Melinda) Grace, Rachel Grace (Scott) Howie; grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Hayden, Jenna, Mac, Anna, Finn, Kendall, Collin, Sophia, Margot, Landon, Elliana, Colton, Milo, Aaron, Eamon, Hannah, Chloe. Gary is preceded in death by his mother, Luvilla Grace, Granddaughter, Nora Howie, Brother, Herby Hampton.

Gary was a devoted fan of University of Kentucky sports, his enthusiasm for the Wildcats brought joy and camaraderie to countless game days with family and friends. He was also an avid golfer.  He found serenity on the greens and his love for the sport was evident in the many rounds played and cherished memories made.

Beyond the fairways, he was captivated by the excitement of horse racing, relishing the thrill of the track and the beauty of the magnificent animals.

A true connoisseur of the arts, Gary immersed himself in a world of literature, films, and music spanning various genres. His eclectic tastes reflected a deep appreciation for the beauty and creativity found in storytelling, visual arts, and melodies that resonated with the soul. Whether engrossed in a classic novel, captivated by the silver screen, or moved by the notes of a favorite song, He knew his way around his trusty guitar and he found solace and inspiration in the world of artistic expression.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Gary possessed a sharp and inquisitive mind, finding joy in the realms of Mathematics and crossword puzzles.

Gary earned undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and English, a testament to his intellectual versatility and commitment to the pursuit of knowledge. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a life characterized by both analytical rigor and creative expression.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force, exemplifying bravery, discipline, and a deep sense of duty. His military service was a source of immense pride, and the values instilled during his time in the armed forces continued to shape his character throughout his life.

A distinguished career unfolded as he transitioned into the field of environmental engineering, where his expertise and dedication were instrumental in supporting the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, Indiana, for more than three decades. His work contributed significantly to environmental sustainability, reflecting a commitment to responsible stewardship of our natural resources. His legacy as an accomplished environmental engineer is etched in the positive impact he made on both the local community and the broader environmental landscape.

Beyond his professional achievements, Gary was known as a "Maker of Men, Supporter of Women," embodying principles of equality, understanding, and respect for all. Above all, he was a steadfast promoter of love, kindness, and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. Gary's legacy extends beyond his professional accomplishments, encompassing the enduring values he cherished and imparted to those around him.

As we bid farewell to Gary we celebrate a life marked by academic brilliance, unwavering service to country, and a profound commitment to fostering love, understanding, and kindness.
