Kathryn Coombs

Kathryn M. Coombs was born in Louisville, KY, to the late Keith Hill and the late Dorothy Mann Hill.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Philip W. Coombs, her sister Bonnie Hill Smith, and her brother Keith Kevin Hill.  She is survived by her sister Deborah S. Ellett.  She is also survived by her children, daughters Deborah M. Coombs, Nicole Coombs Cockerham (Jeff), Andrea Coombs Ross (Dave), son Kevin W. Coombs, and grandchildren, Tyler D. Cockerham (Christina), Baylie Cockerham Sawicki (Brandon), Gabriel J. Ross, Keegan E. Ross, great-grandchild Easton R. Sawicki, and great-grand baby Cockerham on the way.

Kathie graduated from Waggener High School in 1964.  In addition to time spent as a beloved stay-at-home mother, she worked in various administrative support roles at Delwin, the Louisville Zoo, and for Louisville Mayor Abramson’s Office.  She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ in St. Matthews.  She was an avid artist across many mediums and loved traveling the world.  More than anything else, she loved spending time with her family surrounded by laughter and playing games.

A celebration of life and love visitation will be held at Immanuel UCC, 2300 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, on Saturday, May 11, from 1:00-4:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or to the continuing support of a personal educational fund for loved ones in Kigali, Rwanda (please reach out to family for more information).
