Thomas Sklodoski

11/30/1957 - 5/31/2024

Thomas Sklodoski 66, born November 30, 1957 in Portsmouth, VA, peacefully passed away at home with Peg by his side on May 31, 2024.He was the beloved son of Terry and Joan Sklodoski. Tom graduated from Valley High School. He proudly served in the US Navy, then lent his skills to GE, bartending, and ultimately retiring from FedEx.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment, survived by his lifelong partner of 30 years Peggy Renn,  daughters Debi Caldwell (Barry) and Sara Sklodoski. His memory will forever be cherished by his grandchildren Isaac Patterson, Essence Metrejon (Jacob), Hayleigh Martin (Jake), Lillian Ison, Santana Ison, and Samson Taylor-Mills. His joy knew no bounds with the arrival of his great granddaughters Joleighene Martin and Clementine Metrejon.

Tom dedicated countless hours volunteering in National Parks. His zest for life extended to pickle ball, LAC group, golf, and finding the best deals. This is where he found competition and camaraderie. But above all his greatest joy was found in the company of his family whom he cherished dearly.

Toms infectious personality warmed the hearts of all who knew him. Though he may have left this world, his spirit will remain in the memories and hearts of those who loved him.

His wishes were to be cremated with no services. Magnolia Cremation in Jeffersonville, IN has been entrusted with those wishes. Celebrate his life with sharing stories, pictures, food, and favorite lines he would always say to the world. In lieu of flowers, make a memorial contribution in his memory to your favorite park, charity, or the Glioblastoma Foundation.

Cremation was chosen and Magnolia Cremations of Jeffersonville, Indiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.

We had the honor of meeting Tom in Capitol Reef NP where we served as NPS Volunteers. We arrived a few days before our volunteer position started so we were camping in the campground while we waited for our start date. Tom & Peggy were serving as camphost at that time. Beginning with the first meeting with Tom, it felt like we known know. Him forever with his bubbly personality and friendly disposition. He welcomed us by saying “Hello Campers!” This is how he greeted everyone in the campground. Then our roles changed and we began serving as camphosts and Tom & Peggy switched to Trails Volunteers. Living as neighbors in the campground for the next few months was so fun. Tom always seemed so happy, had the funniest personality, and enjoyed eating. I admired him and Peggy for their adventurous spirit while hiking and canyoneering all over the Park. Tom’s passing has definitely left a void upon all who knew him. Our hearts hurt for Peggy and his family. We pray they find peace and comfort while cherishing the memories.
