Galen Arthur (Joe) Renwick

Galen Arthur (Joe) Renwick, 83, died January 29, 2022 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, after a long illness.

Joe was born in 1938 to Harold and Clara (Ortman) Renwick and grew up in Bushnell, Illinois. He earned his bachelor's degree from Monmouth College and a master's degree and PhD from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He married Judith Crowe in 1964.

In 1969, Joe joined the faculty at Indiana University Southeast, where he taught microbiology and a variety of other science courses. He later served as Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, retiring in 2002.

Joe was involved in many civic and environmental groups both before and after retirement, volunteering with American Red Cross disaster services, the Louisville Zoo, and Falls of the Ohio, among others.

Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Radcliffe and his son, David Renwick. He is survived by his wife Judith, son Michael Renwick, and daughters Amy Renwick, Laura Renwick, and Megan Renwick.  Five grandchildren - Katherine, Nellie, Taylor, Leo and Eli - also survive.

Cremation was chosen and Magnolia Cremations of New Albany, Indiana, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
