Alan Lee Standifer Sr.

09/24/2022November, 21, 1955 - September, 24, 2022

Alan Lee Standifer Sr (Tuney), 66, of Louisville passed away peacefully at his residence in Louisville on Saturday, September 24th, 2022.

Alan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (GuyGuy), brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was a recent throat cancer survivor who fought hard and won, a retired painter, and drywall carrier for Acoustical & Drywall Supply.

Alan played football for Manuel High School, studied martial arts, and worked out every day in the gym.  He enjoyed watching old westerns and Andy Griffith, and his interest in martial arts is exemplified in his love for Bruce Lee movies. Alan was passionate about music and singing, which was ever present when his daughters and grandchildren would sing to him.

Alan was proud of all his children and grandchildren, and he always said that his two biggest heroes were his two daughters who chose to work in the medical field to serve the sick.

Alan leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years Ona Marie "Ree Ree" Standifer; children, Alan Lee Standifer Jr,  Casey Marie (Justin) Hughes, Kimberly Gayle Standifer, and Crissy Michelle Standifer; grandchildren Michael VanMeter, Jordan Witt, MaKayla VanMeter, and Justin Hughes Jr (who was GuyGuy’s best friend, because "it’s a guy thing"); great-grandchildren Kyler Layne and Bella Kinslow.

He also leaves behind his siblings, James "Bimbo" (Laura) Standifer, Linda Parker, and Kim Standifer; two bonus grandchildren Hailey Hughes and Mathew VanMeter; best friend Dean Priest; and a host of other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother Mila (Granny) Owens; mother Nancy Owens; father James (Jim) Standifer; brother Terry (Crash) Standifer; son Michael Alan Standifer;  nephews James (Jimbo) Standifer and Darin Parker; niece Terri Perks; and best friend, Bernie French.

Cremation has been chosen to respect Alan's wishes, and Magnolia Cremations of New Albany, Indiana has been entrusted with the arrangements. A private memorial will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022.

Expressions of sympathy can be made by donating in Alan's name to the University of Louisville Health- Brown Cancer Center.
