Ali Tahtol Kassai ("ATTA")

Ali Tahtol Kassai ("ATTA"), 58, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Cabanas de Tavira, Portugal, passed away surrounded by the love of those whose lives he deeply touched.

Born on June 7, 1967, in Tehran, Iran, Ali built a life defined by passion, resilience, and care for others. As a contractor, he took pride not just in creating homes, but in building something meaningful for the future. He believed a home could change a life—and he lived that belief—quietly offering others a foundation to stand on, a place to begin again, and a chance to build something greater. His generosity extended far beyond his work; he devoted time to supporting refugees and contributed to building an orphanage in Malawi.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Lindsay (James), Leily, and Sam; his grandchildren, Lucy and James, who lovingly knew him as "ATTA"; his sisters, Leili, Mehnoosh, and Mahvash; and many nieces and nephews across the U.S., Canada, and Iran.

Ali's greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren, traveling the world, and striving to make it better. It is hard to capture someone so wonderful in a few words, but what he leaves behind is a lasting example: treat everyone with respect, live life fully, and find joy in all that you do.

His life was a quiet force for good—felt deeply, given freely, and carried forward in all of us.
