Andrew Bradley Keisker Janes

June 13, 1962 – April 30, 2026

Andrew passed away on April 30, 2026, at the age of 63.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Andrew graduated from Pleasure Ridge Park High School. During his high school years and beyond, he enjoyed the thrill and freedom of skydiving.

Andrew attended Centre College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 1984. He later studied at the University of Louisville School of Medicine from 1984 to 1987, participating in pre-clinical studies and psychiatric rotations. In 1988, he continued his education at Webster University, where he studied Hospital Administration.

He later served as Needs Assessment Director at Charter Hospital of Louisville, where he and Charter’s professionals helped many struggling with substance abuse find renewed hope and a path toward recovery.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane Keisker and William Nolan Keisker.

He is survived by his husband, Heith L. Ratliff Janes; his sisters, Kristie Keisker Elkins and Tracie Keisker Saelinger; his nephews, Wesley and Aaron Mattingly and Jonathan Saelinger; and his niece, Lindsay Mendiola.

Andrew will be remembered for his deep compassion and remarkable ability to connect not only with people, but also with animals — especially cats. He devotedly loved his feline companions Earl Grey, Phoenix, Smudge, Kutz, and Weeza, all of whom preceded him in death. In honor of Andrew’s love for cats and animal welfare, memorial donations may be made to Alley Cat Advocates.

Andrew is loved by many family members and friends and will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for June 13, 2027, at the Pigment Gallery of the Mellwood Art Center. Additional details will be shared at a later date.

I had the good fortune to take in one of Andrew’s feral cats, Sabrina, and she was the delight of our lives for five years. I always wanted to tell him that but I waited too long, to my regret. Sabrina herself passed from cancer only two days ago but had a good life, thanks to Andrew.

Andrew and I friendship goes back many years and we had some really fun crazy times. When I could make it down, and spend the night, we would just sit on the sofa and talk for hours. Sometimes important stuff and sometimes just jokes and crazy things. He will be missed.
