Betty Joyce Lotter
11/21/1937 - 12/02/2025
Betty Joyce Lotter, age 88 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, with her two loving children at her side.
Born on November 21, 1937 in Middletown, Kentucky, to Ernest and Gladys Colyer, she was the second of seven children. Betty grew up in Middletown, attended Eastern High School, and graduated in 1955 along with her sister, Doris.
Betty was known for her fierce independence; she was quick to smile and laugh and referred to herself as Princess Betty. And you do NOT mess with the Princess. She was a loving mother, always sharing proud moments of her children and grandchildren. She treasured every moment with her family. Betty had much love and devotion for her partner, Vincent Gramarossa, all the way to the very end, stating simply “the heart wants what the heart wants.”
Betty spent many years working for Jefferson County Schools starting as a lunch monitor, then a classroom assistant, teacher’s aide, assistant computer teacher, all the way to being a Headstart teacher at Portland Elementary in Louisville. Her love and devotion to the kids she helped and taught through the years was heartfelt and joy filled.
She is survived by her two children, Anna Rose and Andrew Lotter, her four siblings – Dixie Towles, Donna Anderson, Larry Colyer and David Colyer, and four grandchildren – Senja Lotter, Jack Lotter, Blake Lotter and Grayson Rose.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys & Ernest Colyer, her brother Ernie Colyer and her sister Doris Dinning.

Betty was a big part of our lives thanks to Dad, she was the love of his life and he embraced the Kentucky life and lifestyle . He considered her children his and was so proud of their accomplishments. The happiest years of his life were with Betty and all she stood for.
