Beverly Torpey DeYoung
1/11/1953 - 4/21/2026
Beverly Torpey DeYoung, RN, born January 11, 1953, passed away on April 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family and community she cherished. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend, she lived a life shaped by compassion, wit, and deep care for others.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel DeYoung; her children, Johannes DeYoung (Natalie Westbrook DeYoung) and Emily DeYoung Bloyd (Joshua Bloyd); and her grandchildren, Nina Kamea DeYoung and Benjamin, William, and James Bloyd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Torpey and Mary Powell Torpey. She also leaves her brothers, Carson, Greg, and Daniel Torpey; extended family; and 25 beloved nieces and nephews.
A 1971 graduate of Atherton High School, Beverly earned her nursing degree from the Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1975. Nursing was her calling. She held leadership roles in senior care communities, including Belmont Senior Living, Sunrise Senior Living, and Masonic Homes Louisville, and served as a nurse at Frazier Rehabilitation Center. She also volunteered with the American Red Cross in Germany. In every role, she brought dignity, gentleness, and humanity to those in her care.
Beverly was known for her warmth, kindness, and irrepressible humor. She had a gift for turning ordinary moments into celebration, gathering others into laughter and song, and making joy feel close at hand. She gave freely in service to her family, her community, and especially to the elderly, for whom she was a steadfast advocate.
A celebration of life will be held at Paramont Estates on June 7, 2026, from 2–5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve. Her legacy endures in the kindness, laughter, and love she shared. She leaves behind a way of being: to meet the world with empathy, humor, and an open heart. Beverly embraced life to its fullest with grace to know that eternity is a mere moment, just long enough for a joke.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
