Cameron Leslie Bowton, 50, of Fort Wayne, IN, died on July 23, 2026.
He was born in Fort Wayne in 1976 to Gregory and Carol Bowton, and was on the go from the moment he entered the world. He loved his daughter, fun, adventure, playing soccer and watching Notre Dame football. He attended Northrop High School before getting his degree from IPFW/IU Bloomington. He sought out jobs that kept him on the go and outside, and most enjoyed his decade spent with Fed Ex, driving around Fort Wayne and chatting with his regulars.
Cameron carried a profound and painful-to-witness disease. Alcoholism is a relentless adversary that he fought against for decades, often choosing to do so on his own. Those who knew him best remember that his addiction did not solely define him. Loyal to a fault to his close friends, he was full of silly faces, ridiculous voices, non-sense words, and a smooth-talking confidence. He was a life-long, die-hard Notre Dame fan and enjoyed attending games with his dad, brother and friends. His family is devastated to say goodbye so soon, and they find comfort knowing he is no longer battling and can rest freely.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Kenneth and Mary Jane Bowton and Earl and Elnora Bryan, and is survived by his daughter Avery Bowton, parents Greg and Carol Bowton, brother Nicholas Bowton (Britt), and sister Megan Quiring (Ty), as well as nephew, Cole and niece, Ellery.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 12, 2026 at the David Hefner Pavilion in Fort Wayne. Timing and details to follow. Cam was a student in my English class at Northrop many years ago. I remember that he was always happy and smiled every day. I have good memories of him. God bless his soul.

When it comes to memories with Cam, I have over 25 years of memories with him but the one I tell the most is when we gave a guy a ride home. On the way to IHOP where we’re going for breakfast Cam told the guy you could control the radio and listen to whatever you want to. So the guy put the song I got five on it . The truck windows were down and we were all singing. He promised to buy us breakfast. So we took him to IHOP . We ordered our food and then I went to the bathroom and when I came back, the guy was walking across the parking lot. I I looks at Cam said where did he go. I guess he’s going home he walked out. I then went outside to yell at the guy who was working across the parking lot and said hey what’s going on with you paying. Almost without even missing a step in his stride, he turned around and yelled. I got five on it, turned back around and continued to walk away. I came back in and told Cam and we laughed so hard and I continue to tell the story and then I bought us breakfast.: or about playing the punching game you’re always hurt the next day from that. I will never forget your friendship, buddy. I love you.
