Carol June Carpenter
6/24/1941 – 1/19/2025
Carol June Carpenter, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, surrounded by love. She spent her life bringing beauty, warmth, and laughter to everyone around her.
Carol was the beloved wife of Tony Carpenter, who preceded her in passing. Their love story was one for the ages—they lovingly nicknamed each other "Forever," a testament to the enduring bond they shared. It was just like Carol to leave this earth to be with Tony on his birthday, a final act of devotion that reflects the deep love they shared, a love that everyone around them aspired to have in their own lives.
Together, Carol and Tony raised two daughters, Missy Lantrip Dunn (married to Tim Dunn) and Jahna Mitchell, who has also passed away. Carol’s legacy lives on through her devoted grandchildren, Tony Lantrip Jr. and Andrew Lantrip, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Trey Lantrip, Grace Lantrip, Olivia Lantrip, and Leland Dunn. Tim Dunn was not only a loving son-in-law but also a source of tremendous support and care for Carol in her final months, a kindness her family will never forget. She will always be remembered as the heart of her family, a source of endless love and joy.
Carol had a natural gift for creating beauty. She transformed her backyard into a stunning oasis, a place where her family gathered for countless joyous occasions. An artist with a needle and thread, she also created intricate cross-stitched works of art that will be treasured for years to come. Carol loved shopping and was always impeccably put together, carrying herself with a sense of elegance and style that perfectly matched her vibrant personality.
Carol’s deep love for animals was a beautiful reflection of her compassionate spirit. Throughout her life, she welcomed many pets into her home and heart, always treating them as treasured members of her family. Among her many acts of kindness, she rescued two retired Greyhounds, offering them safety, love, and comfort in their later years. In her final days, Carol experienced a moment of pure joy when Sadie, a sweet therapy dog from W.A.G.S. Pet Therapy of Kentucky, Inc., visited her in the palliative care unit. That visit was a source of peace and happiness, embodying the special connection she had with animals throughout her life.
Her family will fondly remember her sense of humor, her sassy attitude, and her deep love for spoiling her loved ones. Carol made holidays especially magical, with her masterful gift-wrapping skills and her beautifully decorated Christmas tree—a centerpiece of treasured family traditions. Her lovingly wrapped gifts and the joy she poured into every holiday will forever remain cherished memories.
At Carol’s request, funeral services will not be held. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to W.A.G.S. Pet Therapy of Kentucky, Inc. at PO Box 43504, Louisville, KY 40253-0504. This organization brought her so much joy in her final days and reflects her lifelong love of animals.
Carol June Carpenter leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and beauty. She brought light and joy to those around her and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
