Charles Pruitt

October 16, 1961 ~ April 17, 2023

Charles Pruitt, 61, of Louisville KY passed away in the early morning of April 17, 2023, after losing his long battle with cancer.

Charles was born in Louisville, KY on October 16, 1961, to Glenn and Carolyn Pruitt. Charles was a devoted, loving husband, son, father, brother, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Kerry; mother, Carolyn Wilkinson; four children, Stephen, Meghann (Ali) Lovell, Alicia, and Robbie; brothers, Tony (Donley Kisner) Pruitt, and Jerry (Kim) Pruitt; sister, Pam; grandchildren, Chloe, Ayden, Ava, and others; and an extensive family of nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Pruitt.

Our family wants to extend our gratitude to his hospice team at Hosparus Health in Louisville who insured he was at peace and resting when he passed.

Charles was an infant when his family moved to Pinellas Park, FL where he grew up. He enjoyed the outdoors and was always up for an adventure. Some of his early hobbies in the ’60s and 70’s included boating, fishing, and camping on the Gulf beaches, Egmont Key, and Homosassa Springs with his family. This included his beloved grandparents, Faris and Walter Hudson; his Aunt Judy, Uncle Buddy, and Cousin Jim. Throughout his adult years, Charles was never afraid to dabble in different hobbies including star gazing and satellite tracking with his telescope, as well as participating in pool and dart leagues. He was always learning something new and enjoyed sharing his excitement and experiences. 

Charles spent over 40 years working as a master pressman in the printing trade, which he really loved. He, like all the Pruitt children, followed in his father’s footsteps in graphic arts. He worked mostly for newspaper publications including the Louisville Courier Journal, Chattanooga Free Press, and the St. Petersburg Times, as well as CCH.  In his free time later in life he enjoyed the company of his two beloved dogs Taco and Belle. Charles will always be remembered for his smile and sense of humor.

Charles’s wishes were to be cremated; the family hopes to have a memorial/celebration of life later this summer, which we will announce. 

Charles, you will forever be missed but never forgotten. Fly high with the angels, until we meet again. We will love you forever.
