Charles T. Billhimer Jr.

05/09/1943 - 02/02/2026

Charles T. Billhimer Jr. "Chuck," passed away on February 2nd, 2026, at the age of 82.

He is survived by his beloved sister, Charlene "Billhimer" Benge; his favorite daughter, Edwina Billhimer (Jeff Sides); his son, Charles Edward Billhimer; his adored grandchildren, Chara Billhimer Moua (Ben), Dennis Searles, Michaela Bette "Billhimer", and James "Sully" Billhimer. He was known as GGPaw by his 4 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Saffy, Elim, and Ezri.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Vonnie "Pardue" Billhimer; parents, Charles T. Billhimer Sr. and Margaret F. "Kirk" Billhimer; and siblings, Suzanne, Mary J "Jody", Robert "Bob", and Richard "Dick".

Charles was born and raised in Indianapolis, moving to Greenwood, Indiana, where he lived until his passing. Charles was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He retired from Wishard Memorial Hospital, where he was an electrician and supervisor. Charles was a volunteer and integral part of fundraising and building Indiana's first accessible park and playground, Independence Park, in Greenwood, Indiana (Center Grove). He was a "jack-of-all-trades" in many ways, doing everything from installing telephone booths and remodeling kitchens and baths, to apartment maintenance, and finally a certified electrician.

Charles enjoyed bass fishing and participated in countless tournaments, winning dozens of trophies and awards over the years. He was extremely proud of his military service and enjoyed spending time with his kids and especially his grandkids - he was so proud of them! Charles will be deeply missed by friends and family, as no one could ever fill his shoes. His wings were ready before our hearts were, so we weep as we say "Goodbye for now" to our brother, dad, papaw, ggpaw, and dear friend.

Cremation was chosen, and Magnolia Cremations of Jeffersonville, Indiana, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
