Cherie Lynn Brockmeier

Cherie Lynn Burns Brockmeier, 56, of Jeffersonville, IN passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 1, 2023, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

Cherie was born in Jeffersonville and grew up in Clarksville, IN. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School and worked for 20 years afterward at Humana in Louisville, later moving on to Meijer in Jeffersonville. Cherie loved traveling, film and television, great music, and a good page-turner. She was a passionate advocate and lover of animals and treated hers like her children. She was a sweet, caring, and fiercely independent soul who loved to laugh, be silly, and spend time with loved ones.

Cherie is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Burns, and long-time pet, Miss Kitty, both of whom she returns to now.

Cherie leaves behind her father Thomas Burns (Terry), sister Jeanette Berry (Wes), nephew Michael Jester, niece Haley Pyke, great nephew Baylen Pyke, stepsister Laura Boone Laurice (Billy), stepbrother Doug Boone (Lindsey), and countless other aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends, and a cat, all whom she loved dearly.

Cherie’s life will be celebrated during a memorial service on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church located at 3209 Middle Road in Jeffersonville, IN. In early October, she was privately buried alongside her mother, Betty, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

The family welcomes floral tributes, or a donation in Cherie’s name can be made to the Southern Indiana Animal Rescue.
