Danny Karem
06/13/1953 - 08/23/2024
Danny Karem, 71, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on August 23, 2024. He wrote his own obituary as follows:
I was born June 13th, 1953 to Lila Janet Karem [nee Kendrick] and Raymond Anthony Karem. Eldest of three brothers: William, Todd and David. For the first six years of my life, I lived on an apple and peach orchard on Hikes Lane with my wonderful parents, brother Willie, loving grandparents Nick and Mary Karem, great aunt Fannie Simon, Uncles Victor and Donald and Aunt Annette. I was blessed with many wonderful and unique aunts, uncles and cousins. Mom was one of eleven children, Dad one of nine.
Attended Melbourne Heights elementary and Seneca High school. Was a fair athlete, loved to fish and hunt. Wasted two years at UK majoring in whiskey and marijuana then went back home and attended U of L, eventually graduating from the Brandeis School of Law in 1979.
In 1975 at the young and immature age of 21, married Deborah Shoptaw. We had two beautiful daughters Courtney and Kristen. In 1998 I married my high school sweetheart Julie Kilness. That marriage only lasted six years. Her three children became teenagers. Nuff said.
I practiced law from 1979 - 2020. Over that period, my general practice provided an opportunity to meet many people of all walks of life. Fellow lawyers, judges, and Court House personnel, and a variety of clientele. Saints and sinners alike.
Covid and the overreactionary, ineffective, idiotic quarantines required me to retire. I thank God for giving me life, chances to love, and for family and friends. God bless you all. Over and out.
