We are sad to announce the passing of David Sherman Henderson Sr. of Cannelton, IN.  David was from Chicago Illinois, and died at the age of 65, on March 25, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his father Ulysses S. Henderson, his mother Evelyn Hunt, Sister Pamela Henderson, nephew Lorenzo Flynn (Dominique), as well as the recent passing of his step father John Hunt.

He leaves behind a son David Sherman Henderson Jr., 2 sisters Lisa Henderson and Debra Henderson, nieces Jasmine Deshield (Michael) and Nakia Walker, Nephew Dominic Flynn, mother of David Jr., Joy Johnson,  his companion, Denise Van Gilder, as well as host of other family and friends.

David Sr. was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army after 6 years of service where he earned the Good Conduct Medal, Marksmanship with a rifle, and was a member of the Pathfinders.

After his military service, David went on to earn his Masonry apprenticeship from Whitney M. Young Job Corps Center in 1977 as well as his carpentry apprenticeship from Home builders Institute in 1991.

David’s employment over the years included employment with Burns Packaging, home framing in the construction industry with David Jackson Construction, several culinary positions, to Event Services Supervisor at Caesar’s Indiana, furniture builder at Jasper Furniture, and finally Warehouse line worker with Inliner Corporation.

Cremation was chosen and Magnolia Cremations of Jeffersonville, Indiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.

David Jr. who is the only existing child will continue to carry out his father’s legacy. As the mother of David Jr., …. “To Big Dave, don’t worry I’ll got Lil, Dave, R.I.P”
