Delmar "Joe" Rhodea

04/23/1942 - 08/01/2024

Delmar Joseph "Joe" Rhodea, 82, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on August 1, 2024.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Rhodea; daughter, Allyson (Bryan) Mudge; grandchildren, Gavin and Rayah Mudge; brother, Ed (Tanis) Rhodea; sisters, Jan (Paul) Trebilcock and Pat (Paul) Kitchka.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joanne and Delmar Rhodea; sisters, Karen Kern and Carol Richmond; and a son, Richard Rhodea.

He was an active member of Southeast Christian Church where he attended bible study and volunteered as a server. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and being active in his engineer fraternity. His favorite pastime was spending time with his wife, Lynn, and visiting and hosting his beloved daughter and family, as well as his siblings and their families.

Joe moved to Jeffersonville Indiana from Michigan where he was born and raised on the shores of Lake Michigan in Muskegon. He was a proud graduate of Michigan Tech in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with a degree in engineering and also taught algebra after graduation. He joined Voss Industries and moved to
Jeffersonville, Indiana, to begin construction on the company’s steel processing plant located at the Port of Indiana. He met and married his wife, Lynn, and together they made many friends and became supporters of this area, focusing on the historic downtown district and establishing a flourishing business there. Joe became an accomplished chef and developed many of the recipes that were made for the food served at their business, Pearl Street Treats.

Joe retired as President of Voss Clark Steel leading it from construction to one of the premier steel processing plants in the United States. He was a kind and generous man. Often others remarked on the fact that he was a “man's man” while always a gentleman with impeccable manners and gentility.

Joe was also famous for his ever-present cigar. He was a cigar aficionado who appreciated fine cigars and always had an extra available to give away. Joe was a devoted and faithful husband to Lynn, a doting and supportive father to Allyson and Rick and delighted in his grandchildren, Gavin and Rayah. He also spoiled and pampered his and Lynn's dogs through the years.

Joe was a mentor and leader throughout his career, diligent and hardworking, brilliant but relatable, dependable, faithful and trustworthy.

Cremation was chosen and Magnolia Cremations of Jeffersonville, Indiana, has been entrusted with the arrangements. There will be a celebration of life announced at a future date for Joe.
