Donald "Donnie " Arnold
1/16/1963 -2/13/2025
Donald Arnold, 62, of Shelbyville, Kentucky, passed away on February 13, 2025. He was born on January 16, 1963, and is survived by his daughter and caregiver Brittney (John Ferguson), his sons Jason and Sean, his beloved grandchildren Alyssa, Blake, Jayla, and Alayna, and his great-grandson Hudson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Wanda, and his brothers Ricky, Jack, Tommy, and David.
Donnie dedicated nearly 20 years of his life as an engineer on the barge line, spending 6-7 months out of the year on the river. He cherished his Rough River Lake home and the close-knit neighborhood of Indiana Valley, where his friends became his chosen family. He found joy in fishing, working outside in his yard and garage, cruising around on his golf cart, and cheering for the UL Cardinals. While working on the barge, he made lifelong friends that became family too.
A proud veteran, Donnie served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division.
A memorial service with military honors and the burial of his ashes will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at 2501 North Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, Kentucky, 40160.
Donnie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Cremation was chosen and Magnolia Cremations of Jeffersonville, Indiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Britney, his daughter as she cared for him tirelessly when he needed her most. She blessed him with beautiful grand children and a great grand child. I’m sure, despite his physical condition the bond he had with Britney was his gold, she made him a rich man, especially in his last months of life. He will be dearly missed by those that love him. They may be gone but only we can keep them alive with our memories. Love you Britney Arnold Ferguson

I had the pleasure of working with Donnie on the motor vessel Capt. Doug Wright, where he served as engineer. He always had a smile on his face and a Mountain Dew in his hand. RIP Donnie.
