Donna Pryor

12/30/1958 - 5/24/2026

Our beloved mother, Donna Jean Pryor, LCSW, passed away on May 24, 2026. The sun shone briefly through the clouds as her children and husband held her hands during her final moments.

Donna was born in Louisville, KY on December 30, 1958, to the late James and Roxie Dyke. Her life-long passion was her career as a therapist for children, families, and individuals. Helping those in need was deeply important to her, and she felt called to help others find the healing she had achieved in her own life.

Her family was the cornerstone of her life. She often said her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved nothing more than treasured moments with family.

Donna was a gentle, warm and loving presence in the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a gift for making those around her feel special. She loved dogs, and always had at least one adoring pup at her side. Donna was always happiest at the beach and her favorite place in the world was Pensacola Beach, FL. Every time we planned a family vacation, that was her suggestion. She will be profoundly missed by her husband of 38 years, Gordon; daughters Amanda Schneider (Sara), Cassandra Kelly (Sean) and Hannah Brooner (James); and three beautiful grandchildren, Emmaline, Raven and Leo. Donna is survived by her brothers, James Dyke and Richard Dyke, and many other cherished family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her dear sister, Judy Simpson. The profound love she gave to her family and the help she gave to others will be her legacy.

A memorial service will be held at a time and date yet to be announced.

To Donna’s husband, Gordon, to Hannah, Jim and children, and to the entire family, I extend my deepest condolences. I only had the pleasure of meeting Donna once or twice, but what I know for sure is….she fought the good fight of faith, that she was most dearly loved by her family, and she leaves a legacy of cherished memories to them and others as well. Family, lean on the Lord. The effort is not an easy one, but as you ease your way, His loving arms are wide open to receive you, and His amazing and sufficient grace will sustain you, now and in the days yet ahead. Keeping you close in my heart and continual in my prayers. 🙏🏽💜
Much love, Karen Parrish

No one will ever replace the role you played in my life. You are one in a million. I say “you are” because I know you are still very much alive in the heavenly realm. I know you heard the Master say, “well done, my good and faithful servant.” I love you so much and will see you again.

Donna and I met at Childplace around 1996 or 97. I always considered her a very dear friend. After we left Childplace., we were able to occasionally meet for lunch. As time passed, we would occasionally be able to communicate through social media.
Donna was very special. Rest in Peace, dear friend ❤️
