Dorothy “Stick” Alexander

Dorothy “Stick” Alexander, age 92, of Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Bee Hive Homes of Lyndon. She was born in Tuscaloosa, AL, April 17, 1933.

Stick was married to James A. Alexander on September 27, 1951. He preceded her in death after 63 years of loving marriage. Also preceding her in death were her children—James V. Alexander, Gay A. Alexander, and Jerome V. Alexander—as well as several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her grandson, James V. Alexander (Jennifer); granddaughters, Bonita Elrey and Kizzy Williams; six great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, all of Louisville. Stick is also survived by two brothers Oliver Rhodes of San Diego, CA, Rudolph Rhodes (Lanear) of Fort Worth, TX, and sister Eloise Jackson (Mark) of Springfield, MO.

Stick dedicated many years to teaching in the Jefferson County School District and continued her passion for education in Port St. Lucie, FL, following her husband’s military retirement. She was a devoted member of Green Castle Baptist Church and the Eastern Star Aurora Chapter No. 96.

Services to be held at Green Castle Baptist Church 4970 Murphy Ln, Louisville, KY 40241on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 11am.

Her legacy of love, learning, and faith will be cherished by all who knew her.
