Ellen “Denise” Brown

11/05/1956 - 08/15/2026

Ellen “Denise” Brown (née McDonald) peacefully left this world on August 15, 2026, to fly high in another. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 5, 1956, and was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth C. Ebanks and Louis W. McDonald.

Denise leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 49 years, Dan Brown; her son, Greg Brown; her grandson, Alex Brown; her sisters, Debbie McDonald and Melanie Lacy; and her brother, Stuart McDonald. She also leaves behind many cousins, in-laws, aunts, uncles, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Denise was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Fiercely loyal to her family and friends, she had a heart full of love for those around her. Denise enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and reading—but most of all, she loved being Grandma to Alex. She also dearly loved her Rottweilers, Sasha and Sadie, and they adored her just as much.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Denise’s best friend, Roma Pedneau, for her unwavering support and kindness and for the loving care she gave Denise, Danny, and Greg during those final days. Her love and presence meant so much to Denise and her family and will always be remembered with heartfelt gratitude.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

It was Denise’s wish that people celebrate her life with laughter and joy, remembering all the fun and silly times shared over the years rather than focusing on sadness. She treasured the times spent on her patio with neighbors, family, and friends—cooking out, playing oldies music, and laughing until no one could breathe.

That is how Denise would want to be remembered: surrounded by the people she loved, sharing laughter, making memories, and enjoying the simple moments that made life so special.

When Denise and Dan moved in next to us on Riva Ridge, we became friends very quickly. How could you not? We both loved our dogs and to work in our yards. If she saw me trying to fix something she never hesitated to come over and try to help me fix it. (Dan is the same way). We did get in an occasional mess, but she amazed me the way she could figure things out. We were also happy to be her food testers when she decided to fix something new. I will miss her so much.
