Fidel T. Mercado

Fidel T. Mercado, 89, passed away on July 17, 2026, in Carmel, Indiana. Born on April 24, 1937, in Batangas, Philippines, Fidel lived a life defined by a deep love for his family, an adventurous spirit, and a song in his heart.

A man of many passions, Fidel had a keen eye for photography and delighted in capturing the memories made during his travels from Egypt to Japan. When he wasn't exploring the world, he stayed active by walking for exercise and enjoying sunny days on the golf course with his friends. He was also a devoted sports fan who could always be found enthusiastically cheering on the New York Knicks and the New York Mets.

Fidel possessed a vibrant and joyful spirit, which he shared with the Filipino community in Rockland, and sang proudly as a member of the St. Catherine’s choir in Blauvelt, New York.

Above all else, Fidel cherished his family. He is survived by his three children: Mia, Fidel Jr. (Juli), and Wilfredo (Danielle). He was the proud and adoring grandfather of six grandchildren: Ana, Madeline, Isabella, Chloe, James, and Kai. He is also survived by his devoted siblings, Gloria, Humberto, Lillia, Arturo, and Norma, who will forever hold his memory close.

Fidel leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
