Frank Eckert, age 76, of New Middletown, Indiana, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Born on January 9, 1948, to George Eckert and Anna Sprigler, Frank's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his community, and his country.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Lethia Collins, and his four sisters: Jane Barnes (Arvil), Judy Fuesting (Donald), Cindy Kleehamer (Donny), and Mary Rager (Denny). His legacy also lives on through his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom he cherished deeply. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son Travis, his daughter Teresa Eckert, and his brother Edward (EJ).
Frank was a man of many passions. An avid hunter and golfer, he loved the great outdoors and shared his skills by teaching others the art of hunting. He also found joy in traveling and camping, savoring the beauty of nature with those he loved. A graduate of Corydon High School’s class of 1966, Frank went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force, where he retired after 22 years, 20 of which he spent as an air traffic controller. His post-military career saw him working in maintenance at St. Mark’s Church in New Albany and for Kenny Stemler Inc., until he retired at age 65 to fully enjoy life’s adventures.
Frank was not only a dedicated worker and outdoorsman but also a wonderful cook and entertainer. He had a way of bringing people together, always ready with a joke or story, and his warm heart and big personality made him a beloved friend and family member. Frank's kind spirit and generous nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
