Gary Lee Shields

Gary Lee Shields, 72, of New Albany, IN, passed away on June 17, 2024. He was born on October 14, 1951, in Curby, IN, to Russell and Thelma Shields.

Gary retired from Ford Motor Company, where he was known for his dedication and hard work over 30 years. His tenure at Ford was marked by significant contributions and many lasting relationships.

In retirement, Gary devoted his time to family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, exploring history, antiquing, wood carving, and going to the movies.

Gary is survived by his children, Jason (Nicole) Shields, Aaron (Barbi) Shields, and Amy (Randy) Abbott; grandchildren, Jaden and Dylan Sonner, Alyssa Kraemer, Olivia, Ethan, and Camden Shields and Shelby and Sydney Abbott; siblings, Janie Clark, Roger Shields, and John (Diane) Shields; his lifelong best friend, Sue Shields; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Thelma Shields; and siblings, Kenny Shields, Richard Shields, and Joann Mueller.

Gary will be remembered for his gruff voice, witty comebacks, and ability to make friends with anyone. Above all, he cherished his grandchildren deeply and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

We will be celebrating the life of Gary on Saturday, June 29th from 2:00p.m. - 6:00p.m. at Preservation Station,100 Preservation Place Jeffersonville, IN 47130.
