Gene Harp

Gene Harp, 79, of Corydon, Indiana, departed from this world on April 3, 2024. He was born to Edward Meredith and Kay Burkhead on December 24, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky. Gene’s legacy is carried on by his daughter Karen Shepherd, his sisters Janie, Debbie, and Kathy, and his brothers Mark and Marvin. He is also fondly remembered by his grandchildren Bryan (Christa), Callie, Justin (Becca), his great-grandchildren Brayden, Emily, Jasper, Owen, Grant, and Gracelyn, and his great-great-grandson Asher.
Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joann Harp, his daughter Jennifer Thomas, his parents Edward and Kay Meredith, his brothers Larry, Kevin, and Albert, and his sister Paula.
An avid bass fisherman, Gene’s passion for fishing was unparalleled. Lake Okeechobee in Florida held a special place in his heart, where he resided and served as a fishing guide. Gene’s skill and dedication led him to victory in numerous fishing tournaments. His love for fishing was infectious, passed down to his children, grandchildren, and extended family.
Beyond his love for the sport, Gene’s devotion to his family knew no bounds. He was fiercely protective and cherished each member dearly. Gene leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
