Heather Dawson

10/19/1977-9/24/2024

Heather Renée Dawson, 46, of Rushville, IN, passed away on September 24, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 7 PM to 10 PM on November 9, 2024 at the American Legion Post #70, 1125 Miller Avenue, Shelbyville, IN, 46176.  Come celebrate the life of the redhead we all love and miss.

Heather’s greatest joy in life was her son, Xandar. Watching him grow and become the best version of himself was her proudest achievement. Heather was a free spirit who embraced life with courage, humor, and authenticity. Never one to hold back, she lived without fear and spoke her mind with a refreshing honesty that endeared her to friends and family alike.

Heather’s love for music was boundless; she filled her life with the sounds of Tom Petty, Lenny Kravitz, and many other artists who fueled her soul. She had an adventurous heart, one that loved road trips, concerts, and spontaneous outings. Heather was also a fierce competitor at Texas Hold-Em, never one to back down from a good game. Her laughter was infectious, and her sense of humor could light up any room. She brought joy to those around her, making memories that will be cherished forever.

Heather’s spirit will live on through the love and laughter she shared with Xander and all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, resilience, and an enduring reminder to live fully and fearlessly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Helen Dawson; brothers, Larry Dawson Jr. and Scott R. Dawson; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Heather is survived by her sister, Ginger N. Dawson; son, Xander Dawson; nephews, Larry Dawson III and Lyman Dawson; nieces, Lyndzey Dawson, Miranda Iglesias (Elisiel), and Breanna Collins; two great-nephews, three great-nieces; lifelong BFFs, Allison Hughes and Christy Carlton; and many friends, family and cousins.

Such an amazing loving spirit she was. Remembering her and all the fun from the Mr. T’s days when our family would get together. We seemed more like family then friends back then. She is missed for her laugh and that amazing smile that showed her heart.
