Inez Pauline Amos Johnson Carr, 88, formerly of Crothersville, passed away November 15, 2004 at Schneck Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born April 16, 1936 in Crothersville to the late James T. Amos and Mima E. Broady Amos Marsh at her grandparents’ home on Dixon Street by Dr. and Mrs. Inez Adair, whom she was named after.

On April 27, 1953, she married Dale R. Johnson, the father of her three children who preceded her in death in 1982. She later married George D. Carr, who passed away in 2017. In addition, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Geraldine Prather and Jean Hamblin, and a grandson, Justin Johnson.

She is survived by her three children, Les (Regina) Johnson of Austin; Ralph (Charlene) Johnson of Palmetto, Florida; and Trinda Nicholson of Austin; Grandchildren, Natasha (Glenn) Boschen of Navarre, Florida; Chris (Tammy) Johnson of Crothersville; Brinley Nicholson of Austin; Heather (Will) Howell of Seymour; Brittany Johnson of Palmetto, Florida; and Aaron Johnson 0f Crothersville; numerous great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her many friends and acquaintances at the St. James Community, her senior apartment complex.

Inez lived for 80 years in Crothersville. Anyone who knew her remembers that her home was always open to the neighborhood kids and her love of rescuing dogs. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Scottsburg and a longtime member of the VFW Lewis-Schill Post 1083 Ladies’ Auxiliary.

It was Inez’s wish to be cremated and for no services to be held. Cremation has been entrusted to Magnolia Cremations of Jeffersonville.
