Jacqueline Lee McGannon

Jacqueline Lee McGannon of Scottsburg, IN, born August 18, 1941, passed away the morning of August 25, 2025. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Thomas and Daisy Cox, and by her brother, Walter Cox. She is survived by her husband, Hugh Vincent McGannon, her brothers John and Larry Cox and their families, and by her three sons: James (Kelly) McGannon, Robert (April) McGannon, and William (Charity) McGannon, as well as her five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. As a lifelong member of Alpha Baptist Church, Jackie spent most of her life in & around Scott County. After graduating from Scottsburg High School, she joined the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) where she proudly served in multiple capacities near Washington, D.C. After returning home and working at the Scott Country Journal, she and Vince were married on April 15, 1966. Ultimately, Jackie earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Indiana University and spent over 25 years teaching at Deputy Elementary School. Loved by family and friends alike for her humor, candor, and counsel, Jackie will be missed & remembered most for the wonderful, lasting impact she had on the lives of others. Her celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 25 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Alpha Baptist Church, 8089 Whitsitt Road, Deputy, IN, 47230. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Alpha Baptist Youth Fund.

Mrs. McGannon was my 5th grade teacher and I loved her so much! She was such a wonderful lady. She will be missed. Sending love and prayers to her family.
