James Andrew Crouse

5/24/1960 - 3/7/2026

James Andrew Crouse, "Jim, Jimmy," 65, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away at 8:46 am, on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Born May 24, 1960, in Hicksville, Ohio he was the son of Richard Lee Crouse and Dorothy Jean (Buckmaster) Crouse.

Growing up in DeKalb and Whitley County, Indiana, Jim enjoyed playing sports, working on the farm, and playing with his friends and siblings.  Jim attended Columbia City Joint High School.  He was the most handsome man on campus. From an early age he enjoyed working on cars and farm equipment with his father and uncles.  While living in Florida he enjoyed many adventures including swimming in the ocean, going to the beach, roller skating, grilling out, and once flying a private airplane on his birthday.  He was very mechanically inclined.  He once turned an old oil drum into a working grill, fabricated trailer beds from old scrap metal and wood, and was the person his friends and family turned to for car repairs.  In Florida he was a mechanic at Express Rental, and later worked as a heavy highway equipment mechanic at Danis & Shook.  After moving back to Indiana in the mid-1990s, he worked setting monuments for his father's company, Crouse Monuments.  He drove, escorting oversized loads, and briefly worked for a small farm in South Whitley.  Later he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for CRI Construction, Inc.  He always had side jobs fixing cars, trucks, and heavy equipment.

Jim is survived by his three children: daughters Andrea Godinez and Amanda Crouse, son James Crouse, sisters Debra Noll, Patricia Wells (and Jim), and Susan Mahan (and Chris); and brothers Kenneth Crouse and R. Max Crouse (and Linda).  His four grandchildren, Dakota, JJ, Caleb, and Elijah Godinez, and 15 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard Lee Crouse (2020); his mother, Dorothy Jean (Buckmaster) Crouse (2007); his grandparents, Merle (1982) and Bessie (1973) Crouse, and Andrew (1937) and Mildred (1968) Buckmaster; his niece, Alyssa (Mahan) Bachelder (2019); and his former wife Twinda Whitehead (2021).
