James Dennis Harrell

James Dennis Harrell lost his battle with cancer on August 15, 2026.

Born November 2, 1946 in Indianapolis Indiana to the late James E Harrell (Ernie) and
Betty Gossman (Robert). After thirteen schools in twelve years he graduated from high
school in Baltimore Maryland where he settled and started his family.

He served in the United States Marnie Corps. After he went to work for the State of Maryland, Storage Tech (where he traveled to Saudia Arbia, Germany and England. After many years in Maryland he moved back to his birthplace of Indiana. Where he had a short stint as a watermelon picker. He went back to the computer industry at American General Finance. He found his vocation in preaching, becoming the pastor of Rumbletown Free Methodist Church for fifteen years.

He is survived by his two daughter’s Cher Sommer (John) and Jamie Williams (Buddy), four grandchildren; Michayla Linnehan (Ryan), Kaitlyn Roberts (Seth), John Sommer III, Kamdyn Hopkinson and two great grandchildren one brother Dwain (Gina) Harrell, two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife James E & Ernest Harrell, his mother and her husband Betty & Robert Gossman, his brother and his wife, Van & Freyae Jones.
