Janet Cook Hollamon
11/11/1937 - 03/18/2026
Janet Cook Hollamon, 88, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, after facing many unexpected medical conditions. Quietly and on her own terms, she simply decided it was enough.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred Parthum; her son, Charles Hollamon; her daughter-in-law, Brittany; and a large family of cousins whom she loved dearly and grew up with.
Janet was a lifelong Louisvillian, though she held many fond memories of Carrollton, her grandfather’s farm in Evansville, Chicago, and of course the Indianapolis 500. She also dreamed of New Orleans and carried those dreams and memories with her throughout her life.
She was a proud Confederate Rebel all year long, except on July 4th, which was her favorite holiday. Janet was blessed with musical talent, an amazing memory, and a love for the people and experiences that shaped her life. She fondly remembered childhood friends including Elizabeth Culley, Barbara Tway, Sue Brecher, and Bunny Simmons. Alongside playmates such as Hunter Thompson and Ned Beatty, she developed an interest in entertainment and improv.
She attended several Louisville schools, including Eastern and Sacred Heart, and graduated from Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis. Her love of learning continued throughout her life, and she attended as many colleges as she could, including East Tennessee, Stephens College, Indiana University, and Notre Dame.
Her travels began with a honeymoon in Paris and later took her to Jamaica, Cuba, Bermuda, Cancun, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, and India.
Janet loved and cared deeply for animals, and it brings comfort to know she will rest among all the animals she loved so much.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Magnolia Cremations. At Janet’s insistence, there will be no viewing or memorial service. Her ashes will be scattered among her fondest memories.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Second Chances Wildlife Center, 487 Gentry Lane, Mount Washington, KY 40047, or online at secondchanceswildlife.org.
