Jermaine Barnes, 54, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on July 22, 2026.

Jermaine was a proud graduate of Washington High School in South Bend, Indiana. He was known for his quiet strength, fiercely independent spirit, and genuine kindness. Although he was a private person, those who knew him best will remember his warm heart, infectious sense of humor, and the love he shared with those closest to him. Jermaine lived life on his own terms, embracing each day with authenticity and determination.

He found great joy in sports and the outdoors. Whether he was sinking a three-pointer on the basketball court or lining up a putt on the golf course, Jermaine approached every game with enthusiasm and passion. Some of his happiest moments were spent playing basketball or enjoying a peaceful round of golf with friends.

Jermaine is lovingly survived by his mother, Monesa Mack; his sisters, Erica Barnes and Carmelita Barnes; his nieces, Cori, Sidney, Shyene, and Courtnei; and his nephews, Anthony and Darnell. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Barnes; his grandmother, Willie Mae Owens; his great-grandmother, Christine Toliver; his great-aunt, Tressie Toliver; his aunt, Veronica Willis; his cousin, Freddrick Willis; and his uncles, James Johnson and William Smith.

Jermaine's strength, laughter, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
