Jimmie Ivory, 55, passed away on June 15, 2026. He was born on August 22, 1970, in Mobile, Alabama.
Jimmie was born at home in Mobile and later moved to Compton, California, at the age of 17, where he completed his high school education. In 1989, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy in Long Beach, California. During his service, he met the love of his life, Evona Guest. The couple married in 1992 and built a beautiful life together, raising four children and welcoming countless nieces and nephews into their hearts. Jimmie and Evona shared 34 years of marriage before his untimely passing.
A hardworking and determined man, Jimmie pursued extensive electrical training and earned multiple certifications throughout his career. His passion and skill led him to establish his own business, Journey Man Electrical Wiring. In June 2012, he returned with his family to his hometown of Mobile, where he worked as a foreman. Never one to shy away from a new opportunity, Jimmie later settled in Louisville, Kentucky, with his wife to begin a new chapter of life.
Jimmie was known for his fearless spirit, playful sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who fiercely protected those he loved. His strength, wisdom, and love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Evona Guest; his daughters, Jasmine Rivers, Janae Ivory, and Monae Ivory; his son, Marcus Ivory; and his cherished granddaughter, Alina Ivory Rivers. He is also survived by his sisters, Wihelmina Porter, Deloris Johnson, Sheila Dinkins, and Veronica Jordan; his brothers, Kennedy Ivory and Donald Ivory; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Bell Ivory; his father, Daniel Lee Mixon Sr.; his sister, Gladys Ivory; his brothers, Walter Ivory, Daniel Lee Mixon Jr., and Norris Columbus Mixon; and his grandson, Marcus Ivory Jr.
Jimmie's legacy of love, hard work, courage, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A military service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort, 34904 AL-225, Spanish Fort, Alabama 36527.
A repast celebrating Jimmie's life will follow on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 5209 St. Stephens Road, Eight Mile, Alabama 36613.
