Jimmy Dean Gilbertson

Jimmy Dean Gilbertson, 65, of Madison, Indiana, passed away at home with his loving wife by his side on Monday, June 29, 2026. Born in Lawton, Oklahoma, on October 7, 1960, to Edith and Dean Gilbertson, Jim spent most of his life in Jefferson County Indiana, where he attended Madison Consolidated High School. 

In 1978, Jim joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country until 1982. On May 10, 1985, he married Pamela Sue Hendrickson. Together they had six children. Jim dedicated 25 years of his career to the Madison State Hospital before working at Walmart where he eventually retired. Jim enjoyed spending his time fishing, playing video games, and had a love of cartoons. 

Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pamela Sue Gilbertson; his brother, Pete Gilbertson; his children, Eric Gardner(Sage), Emily Hendrickson, Nathan Gilbertson, Michael Gilbertson, Mary Dunn(Chris), and Tamela Gilbertson(Mat); and his grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Nikala Gardner, Levi Gardner, Kristopher Gilbertson, Xavier Dunn, Logan Dunn, Freya Dunn, Viggo Dunn, and Kaitlyn Rei Gilbertson. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Tammy (Keith) Proffitt, Teresa (Eddie) Taylor, and Anita (Jim) Peters; his brother-in-law, David (Elaine) Hendrickson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Per Jim's request, there will be no public visitation. A military service at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held at a future date(details to be determined). A separate celebration of life will also be arranged for family at a later time.
