In Loving Memory of John Bryant “JR” Russell

John Bryant “JR” Russell, of Cecilia, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Louisville on August 3, 2026, at the age of 55, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories that will be shared for years to come. He lived with a big heart, a quick wit, and an unmistakable sense of humor that could brighten any room.

JR was the beloved son of William and Karin Crutcher and the biological son of John Russell. He was the proud father of Kayla Roper (Michael) and Kelsey Wagner (Justin), and Papaw to Bryson Taylor, Easton Wagner, Mason Wagner, Luke Roper, and Levi Roper. He is also survived by his former wife, Pam Russell, whose steadfast love and support through every season of life never went unnoticed; his siblings, Glenn, Ron, and Trish; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who became family over the years.

JR spent many years with the Hardin County Water District, where he built lasting friendships and was known for his willingness to help others and his unforgettable sense of humor. He loved riding motorcycles, coaching his daughters’ soccer teams, cooking for family and friends, and relaxing at the beach. If you were invited over for dinner, you knew two things: the meal would be incredible… and it would probably be served a little later than he promised.

More than anything, JR will be remembered for making people laugh. Whether it was a perfectly timed joke, playful teasing, or one of his famous sayings, you never knew what he was going to say next—but you knew it would leave you smiling.

The family invites all who knew JR to honor his memory by taking a motorcycle ride, preparing a home-cooked meal for someone you love, watching a sunset at the beach, or simply sharing a good laugh with family and friends—because that’s how JR lived.
